Cabbage’s Resilience Programme was developed in 2020, in response to the impact of Covid-19 on under represented and early career artist freelancer opportunity and practices, and informed by Cabbage's approach to working; through slow conversation and collaboration.
This annual programme offers tailored support for a cohort of Associate Artists and Curators to develop their practice, research and develop ideas, and navigate challenges due Covid-19 or their own personal circumstances. Opportunities within the programme are developed in partnership with each artist and included a funded period of research and development, with no pressure on outcome, as well as an additional allocation of funding for professional development that is identified by each artist. These personalised opportunities range from mentoring sessions, to support for digital events, skills building and new film commissions. The programme is delivered and supported by an artist-led team, and in its second year, established the role of artist Critical Friends, who host supportive sessions to critically discuss each Associate Artists practice, ideas and practical challenges.
